Headlight Restoration for Safer Driving

Dana Meyer is proud to offer headlight restoration to all cars. This service restores a car's headlight lenses from cloudy to crystal clear. We provide this service to restore better light levels for driving to ensure safer journeys for our customers. Cloudy headlights can dim lights to an unsafe degree, making it hard to see the road and obstacles when driving at night. Headlight lenses get cloudy from sun damage and oxidation over time. It is a recommended service that is included in our visual inspection and can also be requested by the customer.

The process for headlight restoration seeks to improve the quality of the light passing through the headlight without damaging the car. Our technicians tape off the perimeter of the lens, making sure not to damage the paint in the process. Then, we sand down the surface of the lens using eight different grits of sandpaper, starting at 240 all the way to 5000. We do a dry, then wet sanding for each grit, and may do multiple passes for the first few grits if we deem it necessary. Once the sanding is finished, it may seem visually safe enough for the road, but we utilize a special product that vaporizes a new layer of plastic onto the prepared surface of the lens. Once this step is done, your car's lenses will look brand new! We are the only shop within 50 miles that has access to this product. When headlights get restored, the difference truly illuminates the importance of keeping headlights clean and serviceable when out driving.
